Getting accepted into a US university is just the first step. The next major hurdle is obtaining your F-1 student visa. The process can seem daunting, but breaking it down makes it manageable.
1. Receive Your I-20
Once you are accepted, the university will send you an I-20 form. You need this document to pay the SEVIS fee and schedule your visa interview.
2. Pay the SEVIS Fee and Complete the DS-160
You must pay the I-901 SEVIS fee online. After that, fill out the DS-160 online nonimmigrant visa application.
3. The Visa Interview
Schedule your interview at the nearest US embassy or consulate. Be prepared to prove your ties to your home country and demonstrate how you will finance your education.
